GHOST STORIES FROM OAKTOWN AND BICKNELL

I would like to have an opportunity to share a few ghost stories that happened
to me when I was a child and another that happened to my closest friend.
Here's how one goes...
When I was about five or six years old (1998-1999), I lived in the oldest
house in Oaktown, Indiana. It's a grayish house on Hawk Lane. I remember
I had several occurrences.
One time I had my neighbor, a girl who was two years older than me, stay
the night.Well, we were in my room doing something and she said she was going
to get a toy out of my "playroom," which was down the hall. (There were three
bedrooms upstairs, which was where we were.) While I was in my room, I didn't
have an encounter with any ghosts, but then I remember her screaming at the
top of her lungs a few seconds later and my dad came rushing up the stairs
to see what was wrong. My friend went home that night but the next day she
told me what happened. Apparently, when she walked in to get a toy she bent
down to pick it up and when she turned around she saw a ghost blocking her
way. It didn't say anything to her, just stared at her. She explained to
me that it was a white figure of maybe a young man in his mid-20s.
Since I was a little too young to understand what a ghost was, my dad and
mom still had me sleep with them soon after, just in case.Well, I remember
that night my dad was trying to get me to sleep. After maybe a few hours later
I woke up and looked in the sliding mirrors that were in front of the bed.
I noticed something very strange. It was greenish color in the shape of a
ball, maybe, and was in the mirror. I thought maybe it was a car light, so
I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. To this day I'm not sure exactly what
it was, a demon maybe? I don't know.
My mom always said that she never felt comfortable in that house, at least
upstairs, when she vacuumed. She said that it seemed as if someone was watching
her. Also, recently I went with my parents to check on the renters (we have
people renting it now from us) and they weren't home. They asked if we could
mow the yard for them because her mower wasn't working (2004).Well, when we
were done my dad locked the door as we began to leave. The weird part is
that when we drove past it, we both saw the inside door open by itself quickly.
So we drove around the block to come back to the house and then when we got
there, the door was shut and locked. Now when we visit that place I never
go upstairs alone. My old neighbor, the girl, still lives in her same house
and at night when her mom is at work and she's alone, I guess she sees "orbs"
outside of the grayish houses' back yard! I now live in Bruceville, Indiana
not far from Oaktown.
Now here's another story...
Another friend, a woman, lives on Duke Road in Bicknell, Indiana. When we first
became friends she told me about her house and how her family often hears
someone walking upstairs when there are only two people downstairs alone
in the living room. I didn't really believe her untill I asked her mom and
she even said that they do. My friend has 7 brothers, and their rooms are
upstairs. Supposedly, they see things at night and hear chains jingling together.
They have a side porch in the inside and there is a little board you can
lift up and there is what they call a secret room. My friend thinks there
could have been slaves kept in there at one time. Their house was built in
the 1800s and was added on. She explained to me that she saw shadow people
outside of her bedroom window. Before she was born her parents lived in a
trailer next door to their house now. They used to hear music outside at
night. They forgot how it sounded but it had a beautiful tune to it. Down
the road from the trailer is a house similar to the house that she lives
in now, and someone hung themselves in the kitchen. She went in there one
time and she heard someone call a man's name in the house. So she ran and
looked back and there was something in the window.
Well those are some true ghost stories that have happened. I thank you for
having the time to read this. Thank you so much!
