What Happened At Cry-Baby Bridge?

Note: Has anyone heard anything about this mysterious Vincennes tale or urban legend? After asking around I have learned that the general story goes like this: Apparently in pre-seatbelt days a woman was driving her car with her baby on the front seat near the bridge on Prulage Road near Hillcrest and was forced off the road by an oncoming truck. Well, the car went into the water and the baby was carried off, never to be found. Apparently if you sit very still and perhaps dangle your feet in the water you can hear the baby crying, or sometimes the mother will appear seeking her offspring. This sounds like a classic urban legend, and it would be interesting to see what other variations exist. Send me your comments and we'll build on this interesting story submitted by John Stangle.

Hi Richard:

Along time ago when a friend and I where starting to get old enough to run around we where told of a bridge . This bridge is located just off Hillcrest ext on Prulege rd ( hope I have the spelling right) . It was called cry baby bridge because if you stop on the bridge and shut your car off , sometimes you can hear a baby crying. The story was that a mother a small baby had a terible car wreck there and died. My friend and I use to take dates down to that bridge and scare them by telling them that story. I cant remember where I heard that from . However the story always held my interest. I enjoyed your web page very much and will add a link to it from my web page. Thank you
