NOTE: Here is another interesting posting from a former Vincennes resident. Does anyone know anything about this story?
Richard,
I graduated from Central Catholic (as it was called then) in 1963. A classmate of mine was Richard Day, who has done quite a lot of Vincennes History work. And yes, I had visited your Loup-Garou pages earlier. In fact, I found it so interesting that I obtained a copy of the pamplet FRENCH FOLKLIFE IN OLD VINCENNES to read the full accounts. I hope you publish more of the legends and weird items about Vincennes.
Have you ever read about the "snow-white" meteorite which fell at Vincennes around May 1, 1899? My source says it was reported in the newspapers and supposedly debunked as simply a piece of "quartzite" in the "Monthly Weather Review" for April 1899. But I have never seen a copy of that magazine or the newspaper articles.
Best wishes,
