As someone who grew in the area I must say I love your page! I stumbled upon it looking through the urban legend web ring sites! I grew up with alot of these stories having been raised in Lawrenceville, IL by parents from Bicknell and Oaktown. It was so nice to see Purple Head make it onto your page! When I was growing up the story was that the ghost was a revolutionary war soldier and that once halfway across the bridge, if you looked in your rear view mirror you would see old purple head chasing after you and he would disappear only after you made it the rest of the way across. Several times I went to Stangle's Brigde to test the story with friends. We never ever got up the courage to try it!!! I may try it someday on a visit home!
Just wanted to tell you I love the page and sent the link to my dad who is full of stories about the area he heard as a kid growing up in Bicknell. I will encourage him to share some of them with you or at least relay them to me!
