UNUSUAL WHITE RIVER ENCOUNTER

I've just ran across your encounter from 1981 in the Daviess County area while looking up "Bigfoot" articles online.  

About a year ago, me and several of my friends heard something along the White River just south of Washington.  My brother in law has some property along the river less than a quarter of a mile from the bridge that crosses the White River on 257.  

We were night cat fishing and heard a noise about 3 or 4 am across the bank from our cabin.  My friends are true country boys who know their way around the woods and the animals that are out there.  We heard this howl/grunt that lasted for a minute and it truly scared the hell out of us.  Guns where pulled out and spot lights were shined across to the bank.  We could hear branches and limbs being broken but could not see anything.  Everyone there said they had never heard a noise from any animal as they did that night.  

I looked on google earth to see what was on the other side of the bank and it was only a slim tree line along the bank with open farm land for about two miles. To this day, I do not have any clue to what it was or an idea of what it could be.  I am not saying that I truly believe in Bigfoot, but this encounter has got me wondering.  I hope someone gets this and can fill me in on any other stories that have came out of this area in recent years.
